ALE and Knightdale Police Raid Two Knightdale Businesses

KNIGHTDALE -- Nine individuals face drug and alcohol charges following a three-month investigation into two ABC-licensed establishments in Knightdale. Special Agents with the Alcohol Law Enforcement Branch of the State Bureau of Investigation and Knightdale Police partnered on the investigation.

Search warrants were executed on Thursday, Oct. 23, at Rudinos Pizza, located at 4022 Village Park Drive, as well as Sports Page, located at 835 North Smithfield Road. ALE began the investigation after receiving information from the Knightdale Police Department, as well as concerned citizens, that illegal activity was occurring at these businesses. The investigation revealed that numerous criminal violations, specifically of drug and alcohol laws, were occurring at the business on a regular basis.

“Criminal activity within ABC-licensed establishments such as these creates an unsafe environment for patrons as well as the community as a whole,” said B.W. Collier, acting director of the State Bureau of Investigation. “Disregard for such illegal activity allows the criminal element in our communities to use these businesses as a haven for criminal acts. We are proud to partner with outstanding local agencies, such as the Knightdale Police Department, to thwart such behavior.”

Arrested and charged at Sports Page were:

  • Owner William Joseph McGee, 52, who was charged with conspiring to sell cocaine, and allowing controlled substance violations to occur on the licensed premises;
