Clayton Man Arrested for Trafficking Prescription Drugs

RALEIGH -- A man charged Wednesday with forgery and trafficking in illegally obtained prescription drugs is being held in the Johnston County Jail under a $150,000 bond.

Agents in the SBI Diversion and Environmental Crimes Unit and Johnston County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Eddie Ray Ryan Jr., 38, of Clayton, on three counts each of obtaining prescription drugs by fraud and three counts of trafficking in 61 oxycodone with acetaminophen pills.

SBI agents were alerted about Ryan after it was discovered that he used 51 controlled substances prescriptions from 10 different doctors he took to 10 different pharmacies over a year’s time.

Ryan’s court date is March 5, 2015.
