SBI Director Commends Three Agents for Coal Ash Spill Investigation Work

RALEIGH -- On Wednesday, June 10, SBI Director B.W. Collier awarded three special agents commendations for their investigative work in the Duke Energy coal ash spill case.

The recipients were Assistant Special Agent In Charge Cecil Cherry, Special Investigations Unit; Assistant Special Agent in Charge Judy Billings and Special Agent Scott Faircloth of the Diversion and Environmental Crimes Unit.

The agents received this recognition for their professionalism, leadership and technical expertise that was instrumental to the successful conclusion of this investigation. Duke Energy plead guilty to several charges stemming from the Dan River coal ash spill and was directed to pay a $102 million fine.
