SBI Investigating Shooting of Henderson Police Officer

Please note this update to the below press release that was sent out by the Henderson Police Department this morning.  The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is investigating the shooting of a police officer with the Henderson Police Department that happened overnight (early Thursday morning).  If anyone from the community has information about the shooting of the officer, please contact the SBI during normal business hours (M-F, 8-5 pm) at 919-779-8188.  After hours and weekends, please call the SBI Operations Center at 1-800-334-3000.  This is an ongoing investigation.  No additional information is available at this time. 
Henderson Police Department Press Release - July 11, 2019                                
On Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at approximately 9:00pm, Henderson Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 400 block of Charles Street. Upon arrival to the area, officers located a subject who had been shot, lying in the roadway.  The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital and then transferred to an area hospital.
At approximately 12:04 am, on Thursday, July 11, 2019, while investigating the shooting from Charles Street, officers were in the area of North Pinkston Street conducting interviews when another shooting occurred. A Henderson Police Department officer was struck by gunfire from a passing vehicle in the area. The officer was transported to a local hospital.
Law enforcement officers from Henderson Police Department, Vance County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies are actively investigating both shootings.
