Case Description: Martha Jane Maxwell was last seen alive on Thursday, January 20, 1994 at about 8:45 a.m. at her home in Elizabethtown when her daughter Hilda Faye Mckoy had left for work.
Later that same day around 12:30 p.m., her husband Johnny Maxwell arrived home and noticed that the storm door was unlocked to the residence. That was unusual since Mrs. Maxwell always locked both the storm door and the interior door when she was home alone which she was that day.
Upon entering the front door, Mr. Maxwell found his 51-year-old wife lying on her back just inside the front door. Mrs. Maxwell had several stab wounds and her throat had been cut. There were signs of a struggle in the den area. She had several defensive wounds on her hands and wrists.
