Case Description: On Thursday, January 10, 2002, Taneka Butler was socializing with friends outside a residence at 105 North Slocumb Street in Goldsboro. Shortly after 3:00 a.m., patrol officers of the Goldsboro Police Department responded to a "shots-fired call" at the location. Ms. Butler was discovered lying in the driveway with a gunshot wound. She was 21 years old when she died, leaving behind two young daughters.
Witnesses stated there were two shooters, and that everyone, including Ms. Butler, ran away when the shooting began.
