Inspections and Compliance
The Inspections and Compliance Unit is responsible for conducting SBI staff inspections and annual evidence inspections. The Bureau uses its inspection programs to support management's efforts to maximize the use of SBI resources and to satisfy the Bureau's high standards by assessing the agency's efficiency and effectiveness, evaluating the quality of the Bureau's operations, identifying the need for additional resources and ensuring that control is maintained throughout the agency. The Special Agent in Charge of Inspections and Compliance coordinates and oversees all staff inspections. 
The Inspections and Compliance Unit is also responsible for ensuring the SBI is following national standards set forth by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, or CALEA. The SBI has achieved accreditation since 1995.
