(BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC) — The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has requested the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred this morning, around 5 am. The details of the event were released by Brunswick County Sheriff Brian Chism through a press release this morning. SBI agents responded to the scene this morning and have been investigating all day.

As a result of our investigation, the SBI is now releasing the name of the deceased individual as Brandon Wayne Taylor (DOB 7/4/91) from Collinsville, VA. His family has been notified. The individual has been taken to the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
