(HARNETT COUNTY, NC) – The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is providing an UPDATE on the Cape Fear River body discovery case from Tuesday, March 18, 2025. The SBI has confirmed that the body has been identified as Gregory Scott Wester, who was from Fuquay-Varina, NC. The Harnett County Sheriff's Office reported Mr. Wester missing on February 8, 2025. His vehicle was found later near Linden, NC, and reported to the authorities. Mr. Wester's remains have been sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy. The SBI investigation is ongoing, and no further information is currently available.
