(COLUMBUS COUNTY) - The Columbus County Sheriff's Office has requested the assistance of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) regarding the discovery of human remains. The body was located by family members of Ervin Johnson, who was last seen on February 13, 2025. The remains were found on Bermuda Bay Lane in Tabor City, NC.

Agents from the SBI Coastal District and the Columbus County Sheriff's Office are currently investigating the case, and the body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Raleigh for an autopsy. The cause of death is undetermined at this time, pending the results of the autopsy. The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available.
