Homicide Investigation Leads to Embezzlement Charges
Raleigh, NC – A homicide investigation from 2018 has led to embezzlement charges for an employee of the victim.  On Saturday, June 16, 2018, Floyd Anthony “Andy” Evans was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound in a garage located on property he owned in Fremont, North Carolina.  While conducting the investigation into the shooting death of Evans, information was developed regarding the suspected embezzlement of funds associated with Mr. Evans’ farming operation.  As a result, a separate investigation associated with the reported embezzlement of funds from his farming operation was conducted by the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO). 
As a result of the embezzlement investigation, on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, Elizabeth Raper Fleming, a former office manager of Mr. Evans’ farming operation, was arrested.  Fleming (W/F/DOB: 01/01/1968) has been charged with the following:
One count of embezzlement >/= $100,000.00 (Felony)
Four counts of embezzlement (Felony)
One count of obtaining property by false pretenses (Felony)
After going before a magistrate, Fleming was issued a $175,000 secured bond and booked at the Wayne County Detention Center. 
Investigators with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the SBI continue to actively follow leads associated with Andy Evans’ death and ask that anyone with information to please contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office at 919-705-1862 or the Goldsboro Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or by text to 919-222-4230. 
There is a reward being offered by private donations in the amount of $35,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible for the death of Andy Evans.  In addition, a Governor’s Reward of $5,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.  No additional information is available at this time.
