(Raleigh, NC) – On January 15, 2025, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) was requested by the Martinsville Police Department (MPD) in Virginia to assist with locating and apprehending Sherri Bethune McGregor, 56, regarding an outstanding warrant for 1^st degree murder out of Martinsville, VA. McGregor was suspected of being in NC.

On January 16, 2025, special agents with the SBI and deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office arrested McGregor without incident. Members of the MPD were also present for the arrest. It was also determined that McGregor had two outstanding orders for arrest in NC. Her extradition is pending.
