New Jersey Murder Suspect Shoots Himself in Whiteville Apartment


WHITEVILLE -- About noon today, Special Response Team agents with the State Bureau of Investigation and local law enforcement officers were at an apartment complex outside of Whiteville trying to apprehend a murder suspect out of New Jersey. While calling for Tim McAllister, 54, to come out, agents and officers heard a gunshot, entered the apartment and found McAllister with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was taken to Columbus Regional Healthcare System.

The Essex County Homicide Task Force, New Jersey, requested the assistance of the State Bureau of Investigation in apprehending McAllister who was wanted for murder and weapons violations in New Jersey.

Members of the Whiteville Police Department and the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office worked with the SBI’s Special Response Team.
