SBI AGENTS ARREST FORMER HARNETT COUNTY DEPUTY, CHARGE WITH INDECENT LIBERTIES

 

Raleigh, NC – Special Agents with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) have arrested a former deputy with the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office.  When the SBI investigation began in November of 2019, William Mitchell Edge, 47, of Lillington, was a deputy with the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office and was assigned as a School Resource Officer at Boone Trail Elementary School.  On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, Edge turned himself in at the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office where he was arrested by agents from the SBI’s Capital District office and charged with five counts of indecent liberties with a minor.  After going before a magistrate, Edge was issued a $150,000 unsecured bond.

 

The SBI investigation began in November of 2019 after agents were contacted by the FBI.  This remains an ongoing investigation.  Anyone with additional information is asked to call the SBI’s Capital District office at 919-779-8188.
