RALEIGH -- Agents of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation charged former licensed nurse, her husband and their son today for trafficking in more than 2,000 hydrocodone tablets and Xanax which they obtained by passing forged prescriptions.

Tammy Lanier Taylor, 38, of Teachey, was arrested for 30 counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and 21 counts of trafficking in hydrocodone. Her nursing license expired in July, 2013.

Michael Sean Taylor Jr., 21, was arrested on three counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud and three counts of trafficking in hydrocodone. Michael Sean Taylor, 41, was arrested on one count of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud. Both also reside in Teachey.

The Taylor family is accused of passing several fraudulent prescriptions at various Duplin County pharmacies using the names of doctor’s from a medical practice in Greenville where Tammy Taylor was a patient. In addition to the hydrocodone tablets, they also obtained 630 Xanax pills and 120 Ambien tablets.

The arrests and investigation were conducted by the SBI Drug and Environmental Crimes Unit, Rose Hill Police Department, the Wallace Police Department, the Beulaville Police Department, and the Duplin County Sheriff’s Department.

All were charged at the Duplin County Sheriff’s Office. The bonds were set at $500,000 for Tammy Taylor, $10,000 for Michael Taylor and $200,000 unsecure for Michael Taylor Jr.
