SBI Arrests Former Charlotte Fire Captain on Drug Charges

RALEIGH -- Charlie David Morris Jr., 49, of Troutman, is charged with fraudulently obtaining approximately 1,000 oxycodone pills from various doctors in Iredell County from January through July. Morris was arrested Sept. 29 and released on $2,500 bond.  His first court appearance was Oct. 2.

Morris was a captain in the Charlotte Fire Department until he resigned in August after being arrested for allegedly stealing Dilaudid pills from a handicapped patient while assisting MEDIC in the victim’s home. The victim’s prescription pills were later reported missing. Morris was arrested then by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
