Raleigh, NC (September 25, 2019) - The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is investigating Tuesday's officer involved shooting (OIS) in Sanford at the request of the Police Chief and District Attorney.  Regarding Tuesday’s OIS in Sanford, the Sanford police officer has been identified as 36-year-old Samuel McLeod.  63-year-old Ronald Michael McCrary has been identified as the person shot by Officer McLeod.  McCrary had been a suspect in an armed robbery at the Dollar Tree on Horner Boulevard in Sanford.  McCrary died yesterday afternoon at the hospital.  

 The investigation is ongoing.  No additional information is available at this time.
