*NEW INFORMATION (6/17/21 10:48 am) – The individual shot by a Newton Grove police officer on Tuesday has been identified as Michael Almer Rich, 48, of Clinton, NC.  There are no updates today regarding his condition.

SBI Investigating Officer Involved Shooting in Newton Grove

Raleigh, NC – On Tuesday, June 15, 2021, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) was requested by the Newton Grove Police Department and District Attorney to investigate an officer involved shooting involving the Newton Grove Police Department.  The officer who fired his weapon has been identified as Newton Grove Police Chief Gregory Calvin Warren, 45.  The name of the individual who was shot has not been released yet.  The latest we have on his condition is the person shot is currently listed in fair condition as of this afternoon. The SBI investigation into the officer involved shooting remains ongoing.  No additional information is available at this time.
