FRANKLIN – A joint law enforcement operation arrested 25 people involved in the transporting, delivering or selling of heroin and methamphetamine in western North Carolina, particularly in Macon and Jackson counties, and in northern Georgia. Search warrants were executed in the early morning hours of April 26.
In addition to the 25 arrests, three alleged Macon County drug suppliers, James Steele, Arthur Potts and Wade Ennis will be extradited from Atlanta. Three people were identified as so-conspirators living in the Franklin and Highlands area.
During Operation JAWbreaker, law enforcement officers intercepted shipments of heroin and meth during traffic stops.
Agencies that participated in the operation included The State Bureau of Investigation, Macon and Jackson county sheriff’s offices, Franklin Police Department, 30
th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Rabun County (Ga.) Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Drug Enforcement Agency.
