SBI In-Service Training
The Training Section is responsible for developing, conducting and coordinating in-service training for all sworn and non-sworn employees of the Bureau. The SBI has 254 sworn employees and 160 non-sworn employees.
The Training Section must ensure that the training provided will maintain and update the knowledge and skills of all employees. The training includes remedial training tailored to meet individual needs.
In-Service provided must also be designed to meet all of the state mandates from the N.C. Criminal Justice Education Training and Standards Commission, the N.C. Department of Labor, and OSHA.
Special Agent In-Service takes place throughout the year. Portions of In-Service are conducted online. Firearms and other mandated training are conducted in Training Section classrooms, district or unit offices, justice academies (Salemburg or Edneyville) and community colleges.
